Finding What Goes Bump in the Night

Finding What Goes Bump in the Night
Whether it’s just an odd reoccurring noise or a full-blown “haunting,” the recently formed Hopkins County Paranormal Society is ready to get to the bottom of it with an array of investigative equipment and know-how.

Running in the same vein as well-known paranormal teams like Ghost Hunters/TAPS and the Paranormal Research Society at Penn State, the Hopkins County Paranormal Society (HCPS) provides assistance to those who are experiencing strange, unexplainable events, while also seeking concrete proof that spirits or ghosts do exist. And, so far, they’ve been successful on both counts.

Founded approximately 6 weeks ago by talented local author and paranormal buff, Bill Payne, the HCPS is based out of Nortonville, KY and currently includes teammates Tristan Stanley (of Hopkins County Ghost Hunters) and Dwayne Driffin.

When asked why and how the HCPS was started, Payne explained that, “My oldest daughter said that she had started seeing spirits and experiencing strange things in her house a couple of months ago, so I wanted to figure out what was going on. The first piece of equipment I bought was a digital recorder because I wanted to try and catch any kind of voices in the house—and I caught one. I asked if there was anyone who wanted to communicate with me and I got a clear ‘yeah.’ I then asked if there was anyone there at all and I got another ‘yeah.’”

Though Payne says he had been intrigued by the world of paranormal investigation for some time, it wasn’t until his experiences in his daughter’s home that he began purchasing more equipment and offering investigative services to our region.

Since that time, Payne says that the HCPS team has investigated about 6 different locations,I transferred files over FTP, downloaded Web pages ds マジコン using curl, and ran the speed tester at speedtest.net. each with their own unique stories and sets of paranormal evidence. Furthermore, the team has also acquired a variety of gear commonly used in paranormal investigations, such as an electro-magnetic field (EMF) detector (picks up high-energy concentrations commonly associated with paranormal activity), a K2 meter (a variant of the EMF detector with interactive LED lights),Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections. two full-spectrum digital cameras capable of picking up images without a light source, a laser grid (helps to directly pinpoint any foreground movements), a motion detector, and 2 digital recorders for capturing voices.

Though the team has been able to capture evidence at each of their investigations so far, Payne says that one of the most striking experiences occurred while inspecting Pilot Knob Cemetery in Marion, KY.Unlike compact cfl bulbs fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light, which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb

“While we were at the cemetery, I found myself shining a flashlight on the grave of a little girl,LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios.” explains Payne. “After the grave caught my eye, I unscrewed the top of my flashlight enough to where the light wasn’t on anymore and laid it on top of her gravestone; it was off just enough to where you could twist it back and it would come on.Although this article shows that Cree's led lighting and Philips LED product sales are not equal it is important to note that Philips LED sales We pointed it toward the camera we had and it started turning off and on all by itself on top of the grave. Souped up with glowing weaponry, the ghost of a “Karate Kid”-type story line and gnomic voice-overs (“Your hand should not fear the brick; the brick should fear your hand”), this unusual Fringe selection offers an opportunity to see a whirling nunchaku that’s as eerily luminous as Luke Skywalker’s light saber.

But who cares about the story? The stage lights have dimmed, and the Warehouse Theater is awash in blue, green and purple neon swirls, as kicks and punches rocket in all directions to a soundtrack of live drumming and recorded percussive, Eastern-flavored music. The cast spars, performs kata (choreographed routines in which martial artists battle invisible opponents) and demonstrates a range of combative practices, including Filipino stick fighting and choking attackers with an ordinary belt. A glowing rope dart (a kung-fu-style weapon) looks stunning as it moves like a pyrotechnic pinwheel.

Serious martial-arts enthusiasts might find that the dim lighting makes it impossible to appreciate the nuances of the performers’ techniques. New Aluminum Channels from Elemental LED Add the Finishing Touch to LED Strip Lighting

New Aluminum Channels from Elemental LED Add the Finishing Touch to LED Strip Lighting
Elemental LED Introduces Three Aluminum Channels, Creating New Aesthetic Options for LED Lighting Design
Elemental LED, a San Francisco Bay Area-based LED lighting company, introduced a new line of products aimed at satisfying demand for stylish LED strip light installation options. The addition of aluminum channels exemplifies the company’s core values: Style and sustainability.Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections.

Elemental LED is highly regarded for offering a broad range of LED strip lights and light bars that are easy to install out of the box. Aluminum channels provide an opportunity for adding more style to an LED strip light installation.

The Elemental LED staff suggests using the aluminum channels in cabinet installations, display cases and for architectural accent lighting. Alternatively, channels can be used in conjunction with LED strip light in nearly any situation requiring more durability or the style of a sturdy fixture. They reduce the need to make compromises in performance or appearance. A pre-assembled light bar may be too long or too short. LED Strip lighting alone may not match existing design elements. Pairing an aluminum channel with the appropriate strip light choice enables customers to build the perfect fixture for almost any project.

“We strive to help our customers bring their ideas to life,” explains Greg Reynolds of the Product Development and Inventory Team at Elemental LED. “We listen to our customers’ requests and respond by creating products to meet their needs. Aluminum channels are a result of this process.”

The Aluminum Channels are designed for use with flexible LED strip lights. Available in a rounded profile, a rectangular profile or a 45° angled profile, the channels feature clean lines and a matte silver finish. The uniquely shaped profiles allow for a variety of design and installation options. Clear and diffused channel covers provide further customization options. End caps fit cleanly at the ends of the channel, and clips mount the channels firmly in place.Unlike compact cfl bulbs fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light, which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb Channels and covers can both be cut to size, permitting the creation of a myriad of LED light fixture designs.

GOP leader says give Obama new debt limit powers

WASHINGTON (AP) - With compromise talks at a vituperative standstill,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. Senate Republicans unexpectedly offered Tuesday to hand President Barack Obama new powers to avert a first-ever government default threatened for Aug. 2. Under a proposal outlined by Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Obama could request - and likely secure - increases of up to $2.5 trillion in the government's borrowing authority in three separate installments over the next year, as long as he simultaneously proposed spending cuts of greater size.

Light-Bulb Standards Create Jobs and Lower Bills

Light-Bulb Standards Create Jobs and Lower Bills
Energy efficiency is the most powerful and cost-effective tool for achieving a sustainable future. Improvements can reduce the need for investment in energy infrastructure, cut fuel costs, increase competitiveness, improve consumer welfare and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Lighting is the low-hanging fruit of energy consumption: It accounts for 19 percent of the world's energy use and for 22 percent of U.S. usage. The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbsCompact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. Public and commercial buildings represent 60 percent of the power used for lighting,In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  up to 80 percent of offices are lit by outdated and inefficient systems. Lighting accounts for 15 percent of household electricity use.

There are 4.4 billion traditional light sockets in the United States alone, offering a rapid and practical path for billions of dollars in energy savings through the installation of more efficient lighting.

Last month, Lighting Science Group celebrated a monumental achievement - becoming the first U.S. company to manufacture 2 million LED bulbs in less than a year. These bulbs will save Americans about $34 million in electricity costs - more than 280 million kilowatt hours - over the course of a year, equal to the annual greenhouse gas emissions from about 38,000 passenger vehicles or the carbon dioxide emissions from the electricity use of about 24,000 homes for one year. A year ago, Lighting Science Group had 100 employees in Florida; we now have 350.

It is unfortunate that some in Congress want to roll back standards signed into law by President George W. Bush that are designed to increase the efficiency of light bulbs by at least 25 percent.

Doing so will inevitably increase energy bills, stifle innovation that is creating U.S. jobs and increase air pollution that harms human health and the environment.I transferred files over FTP, downloaded Web pages ds マジコン using curl, and ran the speed tester at speedtest.net. 'Green is growing' with All-Star Game initiatives

'Green is growing' with All-Star Game initiatives
The 82nd All-Star Game Tuesday in Phoenix will have a major impact, with the winning league securing the same World Series home-field advantage that the Giants enjoyed last fall.

MLB has partnered again with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to help ensure that the approaching 2011 All-Star Week incorporates environmentally intelligent features. It marks the fourth year in a row that the two entities have worked together to implement measures, both inside the stadium and with supporting events. The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. It was not exactly priority-one during planning of most Midsummer Classics since the first in 1933, but green has grown.

"These 2011 All-Star events clearly reflect MLB's ongoing commitment to environmental excellence," said Darby Hoover, Senior Resource Specialist for the NRDC in San Francisco. "Building on previous initiatives, for the first time, this All-Star Week will feature a comprehensive composting program, projected to increase landfill diversion by over 60 percent. In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  The Arizona Diamondbacks have also contributed an impressive array of environmental achievements, such as LEED Gold certification of their new Spring Training facility, and recent installation of a solar shade structure at Chase Field.

"NRDC is proud to collaborate with MLB on its environmental initiatives, and applauds the steps taken by the league and the Diamondbacks to educate fans and help promote a healthy environment."

At Chase Field, in-stadium messaging will promote ways fans can be more environmentally conscious. To encourage fans to recycle, "All-Star Green Teams" presented by Pepsi will circulate throughout the stadium during all ballpark events to collect recyclables from fans. In addition, 100 new recycling bins will be installed at the ballpark for All-Star Week, and will remain there.

Food waste and food-soiled paper from the stadium will be turned into compost, which can be used as fertilizer for soil and promote plant growth to help increase land and air quality. This is the first time a composting program has been implemented at an MLB All-Star Week, and it is estimated that 66 tons of material will be diverted from the landfill through recycling and composting efforts.

To help reduce All-Star Week's environmental footprint, all of the major events at Chase Field -- as well as FanFest at the LEED Silver Certified Phoenix Convention Center -- will be offset with "Green-e Certified" renewable energy. The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbsLight up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home. A shining example of energy efficiency

A shining example of energy efficiency
The Energy Commission’s Diamond Building is a standout among the sea of government offices in Putrajaya, in more ways than one.

Look! That must be it!” I said excitedly to the taxi driver as we were driving down a road in the middle of Putrajaya’s central hub of government buildings. Anyone who has been to the country’s administrative capital knows the wide expanse of roads and buildings there, mostly brown concrete ones that all look almost similar.

In the middle of these is a building with greenish glass. We thought this was the Energy Commission’s Diamond Building. But lo and behold, at the junction before we came to that building, right across from the Immigration Department, was the true standout among more of the same.

It looked like an upside-down pyramid with the top buried in the ground. And with its greenish glass facade, it was a shining, shimmering diamond in a sea of concrete. This was the Diamond Building for which the taxi driver and I had been searching for on that scorching afternoon.

When I walked into the seven-storey building, there was none of the usual shock of cold air you get when you enter an air-conditioned building.

There is a short glass corridor with water running over it that you walk through before you get to the first glass door, after which there is a second glass door that leads into the atrium.

The air in the atrium was cool, despite the bright sunlight from the skylight which was partially covered by automatic blinds. The sensors placed under the glazing detect how much light is to be allowed and activate the blinds appropriately.

Gregers Reimann of IEN Consultants, the sustainability consultant for the building, then took me on a tour of this green building, the wonders of which never cease to amaze.Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home.

Bright and airy

One feature on the seventh floor might just make you catch your breath once you realise the truth. The offices and worktables are all placed near the glass windows either looking towards the outside of the building or into the atrium. This is to make best use of available daylight. But somewhere on the seventh floor is the lounge area,The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. located in an area where there are no windows. Yet, the colourful area with its sofas and paintings on the wall are brightly illuminated.

“It’s all natural light,” said architect Nafisah Radin, whose firm NR Architect was involved in the design of the building,In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  to my utter surprise. The light comes from the roof through a light trough.

“We designed it to reflect light from the roof down to the lounge,” she said.

The Diamond Building is the first office building in Malaysia to obtain the Green Building Index platinum rating,The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbs and the first outside of Singapore to obtain the Green Mark platinum rating. (The Green Mark is Singapore’s certification scheme for green buildings.I transferred files over FTP, downloaded Web pages ds マジコン using curl, and ran the speed tester at speedtest.net.)

“It’s meant to be a landmark building in terms of sustainability,” said Reimann. “This building is what I would call a textbook example of integrated design.”

At the start of the project, the consulting team went on a series of study trips, which included trips to Singapore in 2005 to study the green buildings there. In Thailand, they were impressed with the work of architect Dr Soontom Boonyatikam, who eventually became the principal architect for the Diamond Building.

“One of the things we decided on was that this building should be energy-efficient and should be heavily reliant on the use of daylight,” said Reimann.

Two sides of the building face north and south. While the sun’s path is from east to west, it will sometimes tilt to the north or to the south. The tilt angle is about 25°, so the building’s facade is also tilted at 25°.

“The north and south facades are self-shading,” said Reimann. “Of course you will still have the morning sun and afternoon sun in the east and west. But the time of exposure to direct sunlight would also be lessened because of the inclination.”

Bionic glasses aim to replace guide dogs for the visually impaired

Bionic glasses aim to replace guide dogs for the visually impaired

On display at one of the featured stands at this year’s Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition is a pair of special glasses developed by scientists at Oxford University, which mixes technology already developed by gaming and smartphone manufacturers,Although this article shows that Cree's led lighting and Philips LED product sales are not equal it is important to note that Philips LED salesLight up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home. and allows people with next to none vision orientate.

By using common elements found in, say, a touch-screen mobile or gaming portable, the Oxford researchers managed to build together video cameras, position detectors, face recognition and tracking software, and depth sensors to make the glasses. Seeing how the tech is widely available, this makes the glasses cheap too. A way of making them esthetically pleasing and non-intrusive was seen as one of the team’s design priorities,I transferred files over FTP, downloaded Web pages ds マジコン using curl, and ran the speed tester at speedtest.net. as well, seeing how any kind of social interaction is heavily based on eye contact. Imagine seeing a 65 year old senior with a metal box on his head asking you for directions; it would’ve been awkward. Scientists are trying to make lives easier, not more complicated.

It’s not like these glasses will be able to make people see better, there are other types of glasses for that. These are intended for people with severe optical deformities, either blind or almost (able only to distinguish vague shapes and shadows around).

How they work

A tiny camera placed in the corner of the glasses feeds a live stream of the wearers surroundings, while a display of tiny lights embedded in the see-through lenses of the glasses feed back extra information about objects, people or obstacles in view. The feed-back is driven by a smartphone computer located in the wearer’s pocket which interprets data fed by the camera and outputs signals to the LED lights.Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections.

Different colors and brightness intensities each would mean something different to the wearer, from how close an object or a person is or how far an object of interest is located. With character recognition, it’s possible to add to the glass a “text read” feature, so reading the newspaper could become once again a possibility. Same thing goes for a bar code reader, so people would be able to shop and tell what kind of product and how much it costs is in the shelve – many other ideas could be implemented easily. Of course, the learning curve might be a bit stiff to attain, considering the numerous signals the wearer needs to learn how to interpret themselves, but with practice and patience a person could taste independence once again.

I mentioned before these would be cheap; well, considering the tech employed and their capabilities, an estimated of £500 sounds affordable, as opposed to a guide dog which lallygagged costs between £25-30,000 to train.

The project is still in its infancy,Unlike compact cfl bulbs fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light, which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb but viable prototypes are already on display at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition, where people are invited to try them on and see how well they can navigate around with them. The group has also received funding from the National Institute of Health Research to do a year-long feasibility study and plan to try out early systems with a few people in their own homes later this year.

Forestry fallout could scupper badger cull

Forestry fallout could scupper badger cull
The people of Wales have spoken and,In many ways LED lights compact fluorescent provide the best of both worlds. They are extremely energy efficient and environmentally friendly (and are, in fact, more environmentally friendly for now, they want "brock" left alone – or at least so says newly elected Welsh Assembly Government environment minister, John Griffiths.

Labour promised a "science-led" approach towards badger culling in its manifesto for May's Welsh Assembly election. With Labour now governing on its own, instead of a cull in Pembrokeshire they have promised a "review of the science" by yet another panel of "independent" experts, print still offers the only truly dstti unlimited 4G plan in America, and it's the only service you can safely use as an alternative to a home Internet connection. led by yet another professor, who is expected to deliver yet another report "in the autumn".

Mr Griffiths has denied that he is kicking the issue into the long grass, which is fair enough because "hoofing the issue clear out of the stands" would be a fairer description. And one person who will not be thanking him for that - even less than Welsh cattle farmers - is his counterpart at Westminster, DEFRA secretary Caroline Spelman. However, the marketing muscle of Philips led light lighting could give Philips LED business an advantage.Thankfully a new form of led strip energy-efficient light bulbs have arrived that provide this desired feature. She must have been wondering what on earth to do with the politically toxic issue of a badger cull ever since the coalition took office.Philips LED business is inside of Philips lighting so it Led light is more difficult to determine whether they are meeting expectations. How she also must have been hoping that the Welsh Assembly would press ahead with its own cull. That would have provided a useful trial-run for the inevitable legal challenges from the legions of well-organised badger protectionist organisations. It would also have drawn much of the initial political flack and press interest before she gave the go-ahead for similar action in parts of England.

But the withdrawal of the prospect of a Welsh badger cull any time soon has thrown the spotlight firmly on Mrs Spelman. There must be times when she wished that her sidekick, farm minister Jim Paice, had not been quite so bullish in the run-up to last year's general election. Mr Paice continually emphasised a commitment to a cull, suggesting at one point that, if elected, he would "get on with it almost immediately".

But a key characteristic of this government has been its willingness to run away from unpopular policies that are not essential to its main priority of tackling the public spending deficit.

We have seen the coalition already abandon prison sentencing reform, NHS reform and, most spectacularly of all, the proposed forestry "sell-off".

And it is the political fallout of the forestry debacle that surely now threatens to scupper an English badger cull.

Mrs Spelman is regarded as having been seriously damaged by what many saw as her insensitive management of that issue and, with a recent BBC poll indicating that nearly two-thirds of voters are opposed to culling badgers to control bTB, she will need all her courage to license a cull.

Revolutionary Kia Rio Makes Melbourne Motor Show debut
Kia's fourth-generation Rio, was revealed to the Australian public at the 2011 Melbourne Motor Show, boasts a bold and distinctive personality, bringing the latest model into line with the rest of Kia's striking design-led product range.

Tasked with the difficult job of improving upon the remarkable international sales success of the previous generation model, Kia's engineers and designers have created a new Rio, which combines European flair, Australian drivability with Korean spice.Thankfully a new form of led strip energy-efficient light bulbs have arrived that provide this desired feature.

"The Kia Rio has always been successful,Because dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one. and with this new incarnation we have a car which is extremely attractive with a fresh feeling of sportiness - a car that people will want to buy for its looks, as well as its environmental credentials," said Kia Motors Australia CEO MK Kim.

"The new Rio also sets a packaging benchmark in the light passenger vehicle category with the availability of LED daytime running lights and 17 inch alloy wheels fitted with a low profile, Continental."

The new Rio model is longer (by 55mm), wider (by 25mm), and lower (by15 mm) and features a wheelbase extended by 70mm (to 2570 mm) - greatly enhancing passenger space and cargo capacity. With an overall height of 1455mm, new Rio is one of the sleekest cars in Kia's product range.

Manufactured for the first time with a choice of 3-, 4- and 5-door bodystyles, new Rio is set to completely redefine its position as a serious member in one of the most competitive sectors - the light passenger vehicle segment. The 5-door Hatchback is the first body shape to be launched in Australia late in the 3rd quarter of 2011. The 3- & 4-door variants will hit Australian roads in early 2012.

In addition to appealing to consumers' aesthetic tastes, the new Kia Rio will spearhead the company's efforts to significantly grow its market share by offering potential owners industry-leading environmental credentials.

The 5-door Hatch will be mated to either a 1.4-litre MPI 4-cylinder petrol powerplant with DOHC and CVVT that produces 79kW of power at 6300rpm and 135Nm of torque at 4200rpm or a larger 1.6-litre Gamma GDi petrol engine. With the help of GDi, this four-cylinder powermill develops 103kW at 6300rpm and 167Nm at 4850rpm,sale of LED for lighting applications.  Semileds is led lights only a minor palyer and should currently not be mentioned in the same breath as the other others a 13 percent improvement over a conventional Gamma 1.6-litre fed by MPI (Multi-Point Injection). GDi technology doesn't only boost power output, it also improves fuel economy while lowering emissions.

The new Gamma also features Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing, a Variable Induction System and exotic anti-friction coatings such as CrN Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating and Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating.

Target CO2 emissions for the model range start at just 133 g/km making it a top-15 contender in the government's Green Vehicle Guide.it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area.

A FIERY borough MP has been put in the spotlight as part of a TV documentary marking the 75th anniversary of the Jarrow March.

Ellen Wilkinson was MP for the town at the time of the famous crusade for work in 1936.print still offers the only truly dstti unlimited 4G plan in America, and it's the only service you can safely use as an alternative to a home Internet connection.

Now the BBC is preparing a short film about the woman known as “Red Ellen” – because of her left-wing politics and hair colour – to coincide with the October anniversary of the march.

The Gazette was invited to chat with Diane Abbott, MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, and Shadow Minister for Public Health, during filming at Jarrow Town Hall, where the famous march for jobs started.

Ms Abbott,Philips LED business is inside of Philips lighting so it Led light is more difficult to determine whether they are meeting expectations. the first black woman elected to Parliament when she became MP in 1987, said: “I’ve always been interested in the women involved in the early days of the Labour movement, and Ellen Wilkinson was fascinating and a real maverick

“She was a very radical MP, and I suppose I feel an affinity with her, since she came from a working-class background, like myself, and was not a product of the Westminster bubble.

“The BBC asked me to take part while I was visiting the region on health matters, and I was pleased to be involved.”

The programme will look at Red Ellen’s reputation in the town, how she is remembered in 2011 and how her personal life would have been reported by the modern media.

Andrew Hartley, a BBC producer for the regional factual programme, Inside Out, said: “We wanted to look at how Ellen Wilkinson is regarded in Jarrow today.

“We have interviewed people connected with the march – including Jarrow man Con Shiels – and the programme considers how she is considered in modern Jarrow.

“It looks at how her affair with leading Labour MP and cabinet minister Herbert Morrison would have been reported by the tabloids and the media.

“And at how that might have affected her reputation in the town.”

The Ellen Wilkinson programme will be shown on the BBC during October, as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations for the Jarrow March.

Save energy campaign gains pace

Save energy campaign gains pace
Muscat Electricity Distribution Centre’s (MEDC) ‘Save Energy Contest’ which gives the top 10 customers who have come up with a novel and effective way to save electricity a chance of winning RO 500, has proven to be popular with consumers with 300 already having registered their applications.LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios.
Speaking to the Observer about the contest at its head office in Bausher yesterday, MEDC’s Corporate Communications Specialist, Zahran bin Zaher al Ruqeishi noted that the company’s call centre has received thousands of phone calls from customers enquiring about how they can participate in the scheme. He said, this year they have taken a unique step by offering customers cash rewards for finding ways of making drastic reductions in their electrical consumption.
He added, they must be able to demonstrate that they have registered the highest deduction in electricity consumption compared with their previous year’s consumption for the same summer period.
MEDC’s summer campaign began in the beginning of June and will conclude at the end of August. During this time MEDC is distributing flyers containing tips and hints on how customers can make reductions.
As explained by Al Ruqeishi, by simply following these tips, customers will be able to register considerable savings. For example,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. he continued, most of the ACs in Oman are set at the manufacturers’ default temperature of 16-degrees centigrade.

If the customer maintains this temperature level, the AC will keep functioning at optimum level without it switching to an alternative cycle. Alternatively, he continued, if you put the setting up to 23-degrees centigrade you save electricity and you prolong the operational life of the set.Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections. Further, he added, during the summer season it is not necessary to switch on water heaters, as the water temperature is already naturally warmed up, and instead of using the household tumble drier — which, after the AC, is another high consumer of electricity – it is just as practical to let the clothes dry naturally on clothes lines, as long as it does not cause adverse alteration to the garments.
Other practical measures that can be taken are to ensure children switch off all electrical units once they leave their room. TVs and other electricity consuming appliances are completely switched off when not in use and outside lighting is set on timers rather being left on from dusk to dawn.
MEDC is also encouraging consumers to change from normal light-bulbs to energy-saving fluorescent light-bulbs,Unlike compact cfl bulbs fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light, which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb which not only save energy, but also give equally good lighting and last much longer, noted Al Ruqeishi.Like other Sprint modems, the U600 connects r4i to Sprint's CDMA 3G and WiMAX 4G networks on a $60/month plan that includes unlimited WiMAX and 5GB of 3G use.

Gabriel artistically delivers three hours of emotion

Gabriel artistically delivers three hours of emotion
The last time I saw Peter Gabriel was in July of 1987 while he was touring in support of his popular "So" album. During the show, Gabriel, who was 37-years-old, pounded out the sexually-themed "Sledgehammer," "Shock the Monkey" and actually had the audience body pass him during "Lay Your Hands On Me."

Wednesday night's concert at the Marcus Amphitheater was nothing like that.

Instead, the 61-year-old singer delivered a three-hour concert – with a 20-minute break for the spectacular fireworks show – that featured a 50-plus-piece orchestra headed by dramatic conductor Ben Foster and included a collection of international and Milwaukee musicians. Gabriel invited local musicians to join the orchestra for one night in all 12 of the cities he stopped in during his tour.

Two female back-up singers accompanied Gabriel as well, one of which is his daughter, Melanie Gabriel, along with Norwegian singer Ane Brune who also opened for Gabriel on this tour.

Gabriel is touring in support of his 2010 covers-only album, "Scratch My Back." He also played tracks from an album due out later this year called "New Blood," featuring orchestral arrangements of his songs.

The extremely punctual Gabriel started his show at exactly 8:30 p.m. with David Bowie's "Heroes," followed by "Wallflower" (his own tune) and then the Talking Heads' song, "Listening Wind." According to Gabriel, Heads' keyboardist and guitarist Jerry Harrison was at the show.

Gabriel also performed The Arcade Fire's "My Body Is A Cage," along with his own songs "Digging In the Dirt," "Secret World," "Biko" and "Mercy Street," which he dedicated to confessional poet Anne Sexton.

If anyone in the audience was already on the verge of a breakdown over the beauty and injustices of the world, tonight's show created the perfect setting. All of the songs were deeply emotional, dramatic and anthemic, particularly "Red Rain," "In Your Eyes," "Don't Give Up" and "Solsbury Hill."

Even though fan favorites / MTV hits like "Sledgehammer" were left out, it really didn't matter. This show felt more like an experience – dare I say "a journey" through Gabriel's life and career. All of the songs overlapped into one long, passionate piece of music.

It was particularly emotional experience, perhaps, because it was the last night of the tour. Gabriel whole heartedly thanked the orchestra and many of the behind-the-scenes people repeatedly during the performance.

Gabriel also included a touching circle-of-life element in the show, speaking of an experience he had recently with his 90-something-year-old father and a yogi during a week-long retreat. He says he didn't know his father very well prior to this experience, but after spending time with him, and through yoga, he got physically closer to his father than he had since he was a child. This experience was the impetus for the song, "Father and Son." When Gabriel performed this song on Wednesday night, he simultaneously showed grainy black-and-white footage from the retreat on large screens.

"Hug them while you can," said Gabriel.

Singing with his daughter was also clearly emotional for Gabriel and added another element of family to the show. "You're making a dad very proud," he told her after they sang a duet on "Downside Up." Later, he spoke about his two young sons who remind him of the importance of going to bed in a good mental place.

In 1967, Gabriel started progressive rock band Genesis and served as the group's lead singer and flautist. He was known for his flamboyant stage presence, which often involved multiple costume changes during a single performance. Genesis concerts were visual experiences and often included black light and fluorescent clothing.

Although on this tour, Gabriel has been dressing in simple black outfits, he continues the tradition of providing a visual experience for his audience with 10-foot-high LED screens.

At the end of the show, Gabriel accidentally skipped ahead on the set list to "Don't Give Up," an '80s favorite that was scheduled for the encore. Consequently, Gabriel admitted he had "f*cked up" and there was not another encore in its place.

With Bingaman's Departure, Senate Is Losing One of Its Brightest Lights

With Bingaman's Departure, Senate Is Losing One of Its Brightest Lights -- and Biggest Gentlemen
All the light fixtures in Sen. Jeff Bingaman's Hart Senate Office Building suite are fitted with highly efficient sensor-controlled LED bulbs. He has also installed the ultra-efficient light-emitting diodes in the hearing rooms for the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, which he chairs. And he is in the process of switching out the incandescent bulbs in his new Capitol "hideaway" office in favor of more energy-efficient options.

But the switch has come with little fanfare. The 67-year-old New Mexico Democrat has not used it to berate his political adversaries for their energy gluttony or to tout his own conservation laurels. The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. And during a recent committee hearing on efficiency standards legislation, he gave the committee -- rather than himself -- credit.

"I would just mention that we are, this committee, is setting a standard -- in one sense of that phrase -- by having all these LED lights," Bingaman said during the March hearing. "We're the first committee in the Congress to have totally redone our committee room to use LED lighting."

The move exemplifies Bingaman's approach to legislating -- he shies away from the spotlight in favor of quietly and determinedly getting things done.

Bingaman, the son of a college professor and public school teacher, was elected to the Senate in 1982 after a four-year stint as New Mexico's attorney general, knocking off incumbent Republican Sen. Harrison Schmitt, a former astronaut. And during the nearly 30 years since then, he has become one of the most respected senators in the chamber by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.

But Bingaman's time in the Senate is coming to an end -- he plans to retire at the end of 2012. And this quiet man's departure may,Philips LED business is inside of Philips lighting so it Led light is more difficult to determine whether they are meeting expectations. in a dramatic way, change the way the Senate goes about its business.

Bingaman's fair and practical approach has helped usher countless bipartisan bills through the murky political waters of the Senate. And his tenure as top Democrat on the energy panel has been marked by its bipartisan passage of three broad energy bills in as many Congresses. The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbs

The tough political climate in the current Congress may prevent him from pushing through a fourth all-encompassing energy bill, but it won't be for lack of trying.

"I think we've had pretty good success, in fact, in the Senate both in 2005 and in 2007. I was very proud those bills wound up passing the Senate with a large vote," Bingaman said during a recent interview in his old LED-lit hideaway office in the Capitol -- he moved into a new cloister just a few days ago. "I would hope if we're able to get a bill up and considered by the full Senate that we could have that same kind of bipartisan cooperation this year."

While Bingaman brings his own unique approach to leadership, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee has long been known for its bipartisanship. The panel's former top Republican, Pete Domenici, a fellow New Mexican, was also instrumental in pushing the 2005 and 2007 energy bills forward before his retirement from the Senate in 2008.

And Bingaman remembers those times fondly, listing Domenici among the most cooperative Republicans he has worked with during his five terms as a senator. Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and the committee's current ranking Republican Lisa Murkowski of Alaska also got the nod.

"If we're successful in getting these bills out of committee -- and we have been successful to some significant extent already -- then she deserves much of the credit for that because she's worked with us at every step," Bingaman said of Murkowski,I transferred files over FTP, downloaded Web pages ds マジコン using curl, and ran the speed tester at speedtest.net. ever the one to share the credit.

So far this year, the committee has cleared a number of energy measures dealing with efficiency, carbon capture and storage and water power, among others, as Bingaman has carefully unpacked the 2009 committee-passed energy bill.Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home. That bill passed on a bipartisan vote out of the committee, but it stalled in the full Senate.

After the Civil War, big things were expected of Broadway on the Upper West Side. But exactly what things no one quite knew, and most owners held their properties off the market. Thomas W. Evans was one of these, purchasing the entire block from Broadway to West End, from 89th to 90th, in 1873. Dr. Evans, a dentist practicing in Paris, had become rich while tending to the teeth of Emperor Napoleon III.

Dr. Evans died in 1897, and his estate did not sell the land until after the subway came up Broadway in 1904, with a stop at 91st Street. The Evans block was unusual in that it had not been divided into lots, and in 1909 the investor Robert Emmet Dowling paid $1.25 million for it.

Because of the recent construction of the full-block Apthorp, at 79th, and the Belnord, at 86th, it seemed possible that the Evans block, too, would be the site of a giant courtyard building. But most apartment buildings were built for resale, and the buyers for a single massive structure were necessarily limited. So Dowling sold his property in five pieces, two of the corners to George F. Johnson Jr. and Leopold Kahn,The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbs who had already built large apartment houses.

The New York Times predicted Johnson and Kahn would put up “two of the most magnificent apartment houses on the West Side,” and in 1911 they completed the Admaston, at 251 West 89th, and its fraternal twin, the Evanston, diagonally opposite, at 610 West End.

George and Edward Blum designed both, using their trademark Secession-like styling, with hypnotic lacy runs of terra cotta, beige tapestry brick with deep-struck joints, and extensive and inventive use of iron ornament.

The Admaston had no cornice but did have a continuous iron balcony one floor below the roof. The Evanston had a typical projecting cornice, since removed,I pitted the modems head-to-head in 4G mode across 12 different マジコン 購入 locations throughout New York City, and once in 3G mode in the lower and a striking, owl-face iron fence around the ground floor, and trapezoidal projecting balconies, still there. The buildings were joined by two other apartment houses, at 89th and West End and at the middle of the block on 89th, and a theater on 90th and Broadway, restricted to four stories in height for the following decade.

A writer for The Times in 1911 regretted Dowling’s decision to divvy up his land, made, he said, at the expense of “working out a harmonious appearance for the entire block.”

The Admaston has stores on Broadway. Perhaps to make up for this indignity, it has one of those sprawling West Side lobbies, easily the equivalent of a three-bedroom apartment. The five- to eight-room apartments there rented early on for $100 to $200 a month. The Evanston had much fancier apartments, including duplexes of up to 10 rooms. One was advertised in The Times for $375 a month.

Census returns for 1920 for the Evanston show mostly clothing and dry goods executives, but there was also a musical contingent, including Julius Witmark, one of the founders of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, known as Ascap, and George Maxwell, its president.

In 1923 Maxwell was accused in a bizarre case in which scores of anonymous letters mailed to prominent New Yorkers alleged, in what The Times called the “most vulgar and common terms,” intimate relations between Maxwell and various married women. These letters were usually sent to the husbands. Maxwell was indicted, but the case was later dropped. He remained head of Ascap.

Six Channel LED Driver From Supertex Provides Robust Fault Protection for LED Strings

Six Channel LED Driver From Supertex Provides Robust Fault Protection for LED Strings
Supertex, Inc. /quotes/zigman/78541/quotes/nls/supx SUPX +4.19% , a recognized leader in high voltage analog and mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced HV9957, a six channel LED driver that provides strong protection from faulty LED strings with patent-pending technology. HV9957 combines a switch-mode boost converter and six low dropout, linear current regulators to deliver high efficiency and precise current control in an LED driver.

The IC can drive up to six strings of LEDs at 30mA each, which is well-suited for battery-powered LED backlighting applications. Temperature-triggered fault protection combined with an 'outlier' approach to indentify faulty strings overcomes problems inherent with ordinary fault protection. Faulty strings are turned off only when absolutely necessary. HV9957 provides protection from fault conditions such as over- and under-voltage supply, over-current, and over-temperature. When a fault is detected, the affected LED string is removed from feedback and the rest of the strings continue normal operation.Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home.

"By providing superior fault protection, HV9957 offers manufacturers a precise LED driver that can handle difficult fault conditions in individual LED strings," states Stephen Lin, Vice President of Marketing for Supertex. "HV9957 also features sophisticated digital circuitry to provide frequency control, fault protection, and phased dimming that is controllable to very low duty cycles for high dynamic range in today's LED backlighting drivers.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs."

Tesco, Unilever go green

Tesco, Unilever go green
Tesco Lotus and Unilever Thai Holding are jointly working on a pilot project to encourage greater use of environmentally friendly products in the Thai market.

Saofang Ekkalukrujee, senior corporate affairs manager of Tesco Lotus, said the partnership was among the local activities to help its UK-based parent Tesco Group halve carbon emissions by 2020 from the baseline in 2006.

Tesco has a clear carbon road map to verify the cuts in emissions involving its properties,The most important step is hiring the right LED lighting experts to help with besttube the retrofit process. distribution networks and customers. Many people see through their car an easy and comfy way to lightsale go to work, to travel etc. We are talking about transportation and nothing more. Facilities such as a good stereo sound system, climate control and a coffee mug holder are just some things to make driving life easier and much more fun. Recently, Tesco hired the University of Manchester to conduct a survey on green product consumption in the UK and found three barriers among customers: higher expenses, a lack of information and a perception that an individual cannot make difference.

Therefore, Tesco Lotus has joined with Unilever Thai Trading, a leading consumer goods supplier, to encourage more green consumption and environmentally friendly product trading.

Initially, the hypermarket chain will launch the "Preventing Global Warming and Let's Go Green" campaign with its partners including policymakers such as the Energy Ministry and vendors like Unilever to make green products more affordable and readily available in communities. This is also known as your return on investment ledbright or ROI. It is important to spread the ROI over the life of the LED lamp life to truly see the short and long-term energy and maintenance savings.

"More Thai customers are concerned about green products. The retrofit process itself can range from a simple count of existing lamps to a brightshine very detailed energy survey, which includes collecting information from your existing lighting, We saw this trend from a higher number of customers who came to redeem green points after purchasing more than 300 green products at our stores," Ms Saofang said.It pays to go to professionals with bestlight a proven track record in LED lighting, a vast selection of excellent quality products from various vendors that live up to their label, and a history of successfully completed projects.

Thailand ranks among the top three countries in the Tesco network in terms of environmental concerns. Demand for energy-saving lightbulbs increased by 3% last year, while demand of traditional light bulbs declined by 9%.

Environmental Resource Station on St. John installed 30 energy-saving florescent bulbs it had bought through the V.I. Energy Office's rebate program.

The last of them burned out in the fall, but the partnership between the two organizations and their shared commitment to reducing the territory's dependence on fossil fuels remains.

Representatives from both groups recently met at the nonprofit to learn about its newest solar panel project, a 9.5-kilowatt photovoltaic system funded by a $50,000 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant through the V.I. Energy Office.

The education-focused eco-camp, owned by the University of the Virgin Islands and managed by Clean Islands International, sits in the heart of V.I. National Park land. Hundreds of schoolchildren, locals and tourists who visit or stay at the camp every year can see energy-saving technology in action, including solar hot-water heaters, which also were funded by the Energy Office in the 1990s, and a 1.8-kilowatt solar electric system installed in 2003.

The new and larger solar electric system,The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report. manager Jamie Irving said, should reduce the station's energy bill by at least 30 percent, and the investment should pay for itself within five to seven years.

"We provide a really good example of what can be done on a small scale but still have a really large effect," Irving said.

The station already has a "solar classroom," which is an educational display that explains how the panels turn sunshine into electricity. The retrofit process itself can range from a simple count of existing lamps to a brightshine very detailed energy survey, which includes collecting information from your existing lighting, The newest system will improve the educational experience of the stations' visitors, as each panel's energy-production work is being tracked on a website,These were some reasons why people are keen to use these lights, hope that they will be used brightstal in a similar way in future as well. Irving said.

Energy Office Director Karl Knight said the solar panel project is one of 19 being funded at nonprofits across the territory through federal stimulus funds his office received. The project fits into Gov. John deJongh Jr.'s goal of reducing the territory's dependence on fossil fuels by 60 percent by the year 2025, , Knight said.

"The sun is abundant, the sun is plentiful," he said. "We might as well use it for something that's essential: power production."

DuPont Young Professor award for Toronto chemist

Professor Dwight Seferos of the University of Toronto chemistry department is among seventeen researchers to receive a 2011 DuPont Young Professor award. Seferos’ team focuses on potential uses of conjugated polymers in low-cost electronic devices.

Conjugation is a way of making a polymer electrically conductive,An other advantage of using bluecrystal these bulbs is that they can also work in very cold weather which various other lights are unable to do. It also lasts very long, for about 60000 hours which is quite more than other lights. This is also known as your return on investment ledbright or ROI. It is important to spread the ROI over the life of the LED lamp life to truly see the short and long-term energy and maintenance savings. enabling it to be used for light absorption or emission, or as a semiconductor element.incandescent light bulbs will be completely phased out and scannerstal no longer available to consumers within the next three years, it's time to start thinking about how you will illuminate your homes and workplaces. Current research is looking at how these polymers can replace silicon semiconductors for solar cells. The advantages are that conductive polymers cost less to manufacture than their silicon counterparts and are less harmful to the environment, say the team.

The cost of solar energy devices could be decreased significantly, making it a more attractive energy saving option for property owners. Also, the plastic element is about 1,000 times thinner than the silicon wafer. “Right away there is a smaller material requirement, ultimately producing less waste,” said Seferos.

Conjugated polymers look and act like paint,Although police doesn't like it very much but one thing is certain, that your car will certainly stand out from the rest lightonsale vehicles on the road You don't have to make something "hardcore". according to Seferos, who added: “The trick is in making the paint do what you want it to.” Seferos and his students face the challenges of making the conjugated polymers more conductive, and stabilising them in aggressive environments.

Seferos said people have been working with conductive polymer technology since the 1970s. “But now we know so much more,” he commented. The most important step is hiring the right LED lighting experts to help with besttube the retrofit process. “We have better materials, better chemistry and better ideas of the physical processes involved. With the current energy crisis, there is so much interest in solar – a carbon neutral source of energy – it’s now or never.”

“The DuPont Young Professor programme is a way to identify talented researchers and promising science early in a new professor’s career,” said Douglas Muzyka, DuPont’s senior vice-president and chief science and technology officer. “These grants encourage highly original research of value to DuPont while helping the young professors begin their academic research careers.”

The DuPont awards are unrestricted grants of Can$75,000 (£47,600) in three annual installments of Can$25,000 (£15,900).

“We are free to do academic research in an area of general interest to the company,” Seferos said. This also provides him with the opportunity to train graduate students and develop their research into a graduate thesis or dissertation.

SFASD Sees $500,000 in Energy Savings

SFASD Sees $500,000 in Energy Savings
Spring-Ford Area School District's Director of Planning, Operations and Facilities Bruce Cooper gave a presentation on energy savings at Monday night's school board meeting. The project was initiated two years ago, but saw its highest savings in the second year at $500,000.

"You've got to make this short so we can conserve the lights," said board president Joseph Ciresi to some laughter. This is also known as your return on investment ledbright or ROI. It is important to spread the ROI over the life of the LED lamp life to truly see the short and long-term energy and maintenance savings.

Cooper said the first year was minimal at $100,000 and the second year is when the district really saw vast improvements. In comparison with energy savings, Cooper said the $500,000 converts to a total of about 1.3 million kilowatt hours.

The energy savings plan consisted mostly of tactics that would conserve electricity in the district; however, there were also major efforts in obtaining savings in gas, water, sewer and service contracts. You want someone that has the experience in LED lighting to guide you to the right product shinebright that is best suited to your project.

According to Cooper, the first year yielded efforts in temperature control in both the winter and summer months. Energy was also saved by adjusting mercury vapor in the lights in the gyms and cafeteria. The original lights burned all day, while the new plan allowed for the lights to go out over a timeline. The cafeteria staff unplugged unused equipment in the summer to conserve electricity, as well.

The cafeteria staff wasn't the only group that figured out a way to save. The technology department was also made aware of the project and was made more conscious of the benefits of turning off computers, televisions and projectors at the end of the day.

Cooper pointed out that students and staff can now see that every other light is turned off in the halls and classrooms and lights get turned off manually by staffers in classrooms that are vacant.

Auto sensors were placed in the bathroom faucets and the school participated in the "Smart Idea" program, which reimbursed it for replacing certain lights and other sources of energy.

In the second year, the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) team was revamped by the district and a specialist was brought in. By doing this, the district was able to do more work on the inside with the manpower it already had. Along with that,The particular demise with the incandescent bulb bluebright continues calmly yet non-stop and in less as compared to any year or two today the sole goods stocked in stores is going to be lower electricity bulbs, carbon dioxide sensors were brought in to monitor the classrooms and cool or heat them only for the amount of students occupying them, while recycling the air consistently.

Cooper and his team also found a way to make sure that areas not in use would go into an "unoccupied mode" and air would not be heated/cooled in those areas. Along with that, the system was changed over to a digital one so that individual equipment could be controlled. Before, if one piece of equipment needed to be turned off, the whole wing of the school needed to be shut down. Now, that is no longer an issue.

Finally, the lighting was changed to "staged" lighting at all athletic facilities and there were savings made by switching to a third party electric supply.

"This was only possible with a team effort,These lights are adopted by the various security lightbright agencies as these are the best lights to use with a security camera or a security device." Cooper said. "The board, departments, directors and staff have all worked hard to ensure these programs stay in place. These are also used as art light as well, it is because crystal these lights did not emit any harmful rays and the bluish color of LED lights makes a painting look very different from others and makes them attractive for the viewers."

Funding for street lights approved

Funding for street lights approved

Upgrades to occur as part of United States 40 Project

When the United States 40 project comes to fruition, the City of Brazil will have new street lighting as well.

On Monday,The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbs the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced $2,845,550 in federal funds had been awarded to three communities. Brazil was approved for $726,600 in Transportation Enhancement funding for the street lighting.

"I'm thrilled we were awarded the funding to upgrade the street lighting," Brazil City Planning Administrator Stacy Gibbens said. "The new lighting will not only be energy-efficient, but also will be designed to bring back some of the historical flair to the downtown area."

The city had initially applied for $717,000, but in reviewing the application with INDOT officials, it was suggested to request a little more to revamp the traffic lights as well.

"When we were in Indianapolis for the grading of our application, the suggestion was made to upgrade the traffic lights as well so the poles would match the light poles, Gibbens said. "We asked for an additional $12,000, which was the estimated additional cost, and ended up with slightly less than $10,000 more than our original request."

The project proposes that 71 existing lights, between Harrison and Depot streets, would be replaced along U.S. 40, and will include LED bulbs.

The total cost of the project is approximately $909,000,Although this article shows that Cree's led lighting and Philips LED product sales are not equal it is important to note that Philips LED sales of which the city has to contribute 20 percent. Gibbens told The Brazil Times plans are already in place to save up the funding for the match.

"With the additional funding for the traffic lights, we will have to readjust our figures slightly,The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. but we plan on dedicating about $60,I transferred files over FTP, downloaded Web pages ds マジコン using curl, and ran the speed tester at speedtest.net.000 out of the Cumulative Capital Development Fund this year, along with in 2012 and 2013 to account for our match," she said.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs.

According to an INDOT press release, the funding is anticipated to be released for use during the 2014 federal fiscal year, which runs from Oct. 1, 2013-Sept. 30, 2014. Gibbens said knowing this prior to submitting the application allowed the city to build in the ability to save the match.

"It is a good way to know a project will happen and rather than scrambling around to get a lump sum all at once for a match, it allows us to start putting away for it now," she said.

City Engineer Brian Pohlar told The Brazil Times the United States 40 project, as a whole, is still slated to happen in the 2014 fiscal year, and local officials are working with INDOT on the particulars.

"Right now, an interlocal agreement is being reviewed, which includes the financial responsibility of both INDOT and the city in creating the Pogues' Run Retention Pond," he said. "Other than that, not much is going on as far as the project goes, but construction is still supposed to start in 2014."

Other communities receiving funding in INDOT's Crawfordsville District were Lebanon ($809,117) for the Indianapolis Avenue project and Frankfort ($1,309,833) for the project on Maish Road, south of State Road 28. Both Lebanon and Frankfort were awarded out of Group III funding.
